A cube half unfolded into its net, next to a card with the surface area and all 11 nets of a cube

What you can do

  • Set the sizes, then drag the slider or press play to watch the solid unfold into a net and fold back; drag to turn it.
  • Choose any of the 11 nets of a cube or cuboid, or two nets for each regular prism and pyramid, from triangular to hexagonal.
  • The card counts the faces, edges and vertices and works out the surface area; vertex labels, edge lengths and face areas can be shown too.
  • Practise with checked answers: decide whether a shape is a net of a cube and find the face that ends up opposite the blue one.
  • Print the net to cut out and fold, with or without glue tabs, and save the view as a PNG.
